History & Purpose

The Korea Smart Grid Association (KSGA) was established on May 21st, 2009 for the purpose of developing Smart Grid projects and encouraging the use of Smart Grid electricity transmission system/renewable energy in order to contribute to national economy growth and to higher quality of life

- 04.07 Hosted the 11th Korea Smart Grid Week.

- 11.17 Signed an MOU on cooperating to stimulate the demand response market.
- 07.01 Started the OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) pilot service.
- 06.16 Selected as the best training agency in 2019 by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.
2019
- 10.16 Hosted the 10th Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 08.28 Designated the certification site for OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol).
- 08.13 Opening of KSGA’s Open Test Lab.
- 05.20 Held a ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of founding of KSGA and declare its vision.
- 02.27 Joined Charin (an international organization related to electric vehicle charging).
2018
- 10.15 Hosted a testival (test+festival) on EV DC Combo mutual interoperability.
- 10.15 Launching of KoChaT (Korea EV Charging Technology) consultative body.
- 10.10 Hosted the 9th Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 05.14 Became a member of the Open Charge Alliance (OCA).
2017
- 09.27 Hosted the 8th Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 07.31 Developed the smart grid standardization tree model.
- 05.12 Constructed the Smart Grid Data Center.
2016
- 10.05 Hosted the 7th Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 02.25 Hosted launch ceremony for “A consultative body for new electricity industries seeking overseas expansion.”
- 02.25 Held the 7th general meeting of KSGA.
- 02.17 Operated educational program on behalf of the National Human Resources Development Consortium.
  * 10 subjects including Understanding SG, EMS, SG communication network, intelligent transmission and distribution, AMI, electric car charging infrastructure.
- 02.12 Hosted a meeting of SMEs and venture companies on “10 projects in the power industry.”
2015
- 10.21 Signed MOU with Smart Grid Ireland (SGI).
- 10.20 Hosted the 6th Korea Smart Grid Week.
  Signed MOU with IEEE in the US and held a joint workshop.
- 07.10 Held a seminar on smart grid policies.
- 07.01 Operated educational program on behalf of the National Human Resources Development Consortium.
  * 8 subjects including Understanding SG, EMS, ESS, BM, standards, ICT, AMI, SG integrated operating system.
- 06.15 Restructured the Smart Grid Standardization Forum (6 technical committees and 4 standing committees).
- 06.01 Operated 2 courses (embedded system, JAVA) on behalf of the Youth Employment Academy.

- 12.19 Established KSGA’s Quality Certification Center.
- 10.14 Hosted the 5th Korea Smart Grid Week.

  Changed name from Intelligent Power Grid Association to Korea Smart Grid Association.
2013
- 10.17 Received top prize for organization standardizations.
- 10.16 Hosted the 4th Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 07.16 Signed MOU with OpenADR Alliance.
2012
- 10.30 Hosted the 3rd Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 02.21 Launched the Smart Grid Committee.
- 01.31 Held the 3rd general meeting of KSGA.
  Changed name from Korea Smart Grid Association to Intelligent Power Grid Association.
2011
- 11.25 Registered as an intelligent power grid operator and started work.
- 11.16 Signed MOU with the UK on smart grid collaboration.
- 11.16 Hosted the 2nd Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 09.21 Signed MOU with Japan on smart grid collaboration.
- 02.22 Held the 2nd general meeting of KSGA.

2010
- 11.08 Signed tripartite MOU with India-Australia.
- 11.08 Hosted the 2010 Korea Smart Grid Week.
- 08.16 Opened a smart grid call center.
- 06.03 Kicked off a forum for smart grid standardization.

- 11.16 Held the 1st extraordinary general meeting.
- 06.15 Signed MOU with the Unites States on smart grid collaboration.
- 05.21 Held the inaugural meeting of the Korea Smart Grid Association.
- 05.08 Convention of incorporators who are preparing for the creation of the Korea Smart Grid Association (tentative name).
- 04.22 KSGA decided to provide focused support to the Green Growth Committee, development of key green technologies, development of smart grid technologies, and creation of an industry strategy roadmap.
- 02.25 Government’s confirmation and announcement of the Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth.

  The Ministry of Knowledge Economy has announced a vision of building the world’s first nationwide smart grid by 2030.
2008
